Resume
This is my actual work history…
i.e., factual, albeit unconventional
Trucking + Travel + Supply Chain = Writer?
Engaged people and teams deliver outstanding results. My career began in trucking and there have been many twists and turns (or were those spirals?) throughout the years. While my career evolved and roles changed, a few things about me have remained the same – I employ humour, authenticity, and optimism to cultivate collaborative, inclusive team environments. And whether you knew it or not, I was writing about it along the way. Here are the highlights.
Leadership + Project Management
- Empathetic, companionate, and energizing leader in formal and informal positions.
- Skilled at developing mutually beneficial relationships to achieve short and long-term objectives based on clearly defined value propositions.
- Motivate and inspire high-performing teams to succeed through transformation, optimization and change initiatives.
- Routinely exceed goals and expectations, and always challenge the status quo.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, innovation, resilience, and perseverance.
- Track record of successful project and program development, implementation, and continuous improvement.
Writing + Design
The BOSS OF ME blog (2016 – Present)
In University I often tasked myself with completing the cover page and table of contents for group assignments. Ever since, I have been writing stuff down, whether it was part of my job or not.
- Creative Writing: I write funny stories on my website, The BOSS OF ME blog. I write about work and learning how to do stuff.
- Technical Writing: I write serious stuff too. I am experienced in working with internal & external teams to develop and write policy, process & procedure documentation and developing templates aligned to corporate brand standards. Like I said, serious, however, working with me through the process is definitely not boring and is generally pretty fun.
- Design: I design fun visuals to accompany my stories using many different methods and technologies.
- Certifications: Digital Marketing Certificate, HubSpot Academy
Supply Chain
Pembina Pipeline Corporation (2016 – 2024)
Athabasca Oil Corporation (2012 – 2015)
Husky Energy (2007 – 2012)
Impressed with my odd career path (trucking + travel), gift of the gab, and ability to sell stuff to someone who didn’t want to buy anything, in 2007 my travel client hired me into my first supply chain role overseeing the fleet, travel and corporate supply chain portfolio.
- Supply Chain Governance: Skilled in developing strategies, processes, documentation and assuring program governance. I know this sounds boring, but if you do it right, it helps people perform better, have more fun and have more time to achieve awesome things.
- Program Development, Contracting & Sourcing List of categories I am experienced in and probably only interesting to other supply chain or industry folks: Information Technology & Services, Telecommunications, Fleet Management, Travel & Aviation Management, Corporate Facilities, Contingent Workforce, Consulting Services & Corporate Credit Card.
- Project Management: Led/supported supply chain integration activities for acquisitions and systems implementation for corporate categories, including fleet telematics (enabled asset optimization and achieved regulatory compliance, because who doesn’t want that?).
- Driving Value and Cost Efficiency: Achieved millions in savings, and cost reduction, and attained value through negotiations and process efficiencies. While capturing value is important in most businesses, a value proposition for all projects and initiatives supports effective work prioritization. This is particularly evident in the Energy sector and with software/applications licensing.
Travel
HRG North America (2005 – 2007)
Tired of smelling like diesel fuel every day, I joined the corporate ranks and accepted a job with a travel management company in 2005.
- Business Development & Customer Relationship Management: Strategic account management and development for major accounts (Husky Energy Inc., Shell Canada Limited, Agrium Inc.).
Trucking
Kleysen Group LP (1999 – 2005)
My career began in earnest in 1999 as a Sales Representative/Marketing Assistant. In 2002, I embarked on my leadership journey overseeing a tractor/trailer maintenance facility.
- Business Development & Customer Relationship Management: Strategic account management for our national maintenance accounts (CN, FedEx, UPS, Brewer’s Distributors).
Leadership: Lead team of over 30 technical personnel and oversee all aspects of the Calgary shop operations.
